What is it you want?

I think about the miracles that did not seem to be as meaningful except beyond the personal encounter: Peter walking on the water, the woman touching the hem of Your garment, the storm on the water, "You feed them". They were each a revelation of You - not meant to do something for the sake of the miraculous; more, a way of life walking with You. Is this not to be the expectation for me? Is it happening and I'm not aware? Is faith such a subtle thing that I neglect to use it? Yet, You encourage me to exercise it, beyond what I think I am capable of doing.

You have touched upon something that most men fail to see: that a walk with Me can be - and should be - beyond your expectation of what you believe is acceptable. You think there should be a practicality of doing, of being. You yearn for something different but can't define what that might be. And you have tempered your beliefs by your experience, and your hopes by what other men have experienced, as if that is the acceptable yardstick to measure a life.
But our journey together is not like that: ours is unique, personal, intimate - just between us. In that you can discover the miraculous you seek. You can experience the edges of your beliefs, then expand them into the impossibilities of the infinite. Nothing is withheld from the one who seeks My heart. Would I hold back I Am? That is impossible. Thus miracles are of My thoughts, My dreams, My being. And for you too.
What would you see? Is there something beyond your vision, beyond your hesitation of asking - for fear of not seeing it come to pass? Your heart speaks of wanting a greater Presence, a greater revelation, a greater encounter. Yet we walk together now - should this not be happening even now? Search for what you believe to be missing. What is it you want? Why would I withhold?
Truthfully I don't know. But I see now that the examples I gave of the miracles were initiated by the one seeking, and You responding. They were of a need, to experience even if the means of coming about were unknown. I would say "The people are hungry, send them away to buy food. You would say "Feed them." I would say "Bid me to walk on the water. And you would say "Come." I would say "We need to pay the temple tax. You would say 'Go fishing." The encounter with You, even without awareness, seems to bring about the miracle. But in the circumstance the encounter needs to happen.
Isn't this the unguarded thing I actually want? - Can't miracles be a 'normal' part of a walk with you? Do they always have to be related to an issue? Even now, in this moment, isn't a miracle happening?
That's what I want. The question I have dealt with my whole life: why are miracles an 'event'? I want them to be a normal occurrence as a walk with You - because that is how You are. They are not separate, not a miracle there but not here. My belief is in a Creator that thinks and moves and speaks miraculously.
Yet I see this movement in my concept of what a miracle should be, and as separate events. Can't a butterfly - created by Your thought - be seen as a miracle? Any creation, any healing, any providence, any movement of power, any wisdom, any goodness - are these not all miracles? Things that happen beyond my understanding, beyond my native ability to do myself? Beyond my thinking? Even impossible for me?
This is the edge of my belief. They are movements of Wisdom, creations of Goodness, expressions of Might, a visitation that envelops, a pull on Prosperity from the heart, a touch of Freedom that drops imprisonment - all a miraculous flow of Creation. Of the Creator. I see separation, but it's not. I want to see the flow of Creation. I don't want to do it - I want to be in it. To express it. Because I am it too.

PARABLES & WISDOM · NO. 021
The Turning
THE DIALOGUE
WITNESS: On the mountain, while they were talking, His face changed. No one saw it coming. Then, just as suddenly, they were alone again. Everything looked the same. Nothing was.
The conversation never actually stopped. It went quiet the way a held note goes quiet - not finished, just past the point you can hear it. What follows picks it up mid-breath. No ceremony. No new session. Just a thought that had been walking beside him the whole time, waiting to be let back in. He had already said it: once you live the belief all the way through, only one honest question is left. What do you actually want? Not whether you deserve it. Not whether it will arrive. Just the plain want, named.
So he named it.
ME: I want to stop checking. I want to walk without the ledger in my hand - the one that counts what happened yesterday against what I hoped for today, the one that decides whether this is going well. I have carried that ledger my whole life without noticing it was a ledger. I called it discernment. I called it wisdom. I think some of it was. But underneath it was always the same questions: Is it working? Am I doing this right? I think that the questions are the walls and not the door.
What I want is to be inside a life where the walls aren’t there. Not gone because I decided they are gone - gone because they were never holding my house up. I want to be inside a life where creation isn’t something I receive from outside and then manage from inside, but something I’m already standing in. The way a fish doesn’t request water.
HIM: Hear what you just did, because you did not notice it. You did not ask Me to take the ledger away. You asked to see that it was never the foundation of the walls. Most men never make that distinction. They spend their lives trying to pass the audit instead of asking why there is an audit. You have moved past bargaining. That is not a small thing.
Now walk a little further with Me. You still talk about desire and manifestation as if they sit at two ends of a distance - wanting here, having there - and a gap that has to be crossed by faith, or effort, or waiting, or worthiness. Look again at the woman you already named. She did not wait to receive what she wanted after she reached. The reaching and the receiving were not two events in a row. They were one motion, seen from two places. My power did not travel to meet her hand. It met her hand because her hand and My power were never in different places.
This is what you have been circling for years without the words: creation is not a transaction between a Creator who has and the one created who lacks. That picture is not false so much as flattened - one still frame cut from something that was never still. I do not hold things back and then release them when a bar is cleared. What looks like a gap between your desire and its shape in the world is not distance. It is unrecognized nearness. It is Me, already moving as your wanting, waiting for you to stop treating the wanting as a request you submitted, and start recognizing it as a current you are already in.
WITNESS: This can’t be explained. So it has to be shown - the way the mountain showed it. Consider what he had already expressed, months before, without seeing the whole shape of it:
'A crowd is hungry. Evening is coming. The practical mind says send them away; this is not ours to carry.' The answer is not a miracle performed at them. It is loaves, counted, handed over, multiplied in the handing. The abundance was never missing. It was only unaccounted for - sitting in a boy’s basket the whole time, mistaken for not enough.
'A storm rises, and the voice says Come.' The water does not become solid ground. The man simply stops requiring it to behave like water before he will trust it. He sinks the moment he starts counting again - the wind, the waves, the distance back to the boat. Not just because his faith left. Because measuring and walking are two different acts, and no one does both at once.
'A tax is owed.' The answer is not money appearing from nothing. It is a hook lowered into water he was already standing beside, into a fish he already knew how to catch, carrying exactly what was needed. And not a coin more.
None of this interrupts the ordinary. The loaves were already loaves. The lake was already a lake. The fish was already a fish. What changed was not the material. What changed was the distance between the one asking and the abundance already sitting in his hands.
ME: So when I ask why miracles get treated as events - something rare - I think what I’m really asking is why I keep drawing a line between the ordinary and the abundant, as if the ordinary were the normal and the miraculous the exception that proves You still care. But if what You are saying is true, the line was never Yours. I drew it. And I drew it because I believe it is easier to live inside a manageable, explainable world with the occasional breakthroughs, than to live inside a world where everything is already Yours. This kind of abundance is more than I know how to receive.
That’s not exciting to me - it’s more frightening. Because if the ordinary is not separate from the miraculous, I can no longer retreat into the ordinary when I want a rest from having to believe.
WITNESS: No correction comes. No reassurance rushes in to soften it. The fear is allowed to stand. It is accurate. And what comes next depends on it being named, not managed.
HIM: You are right to feel it, and I will not talk you out of it. The fear is not a sign you have misunderstood Me. It is a sign you have understood correctly enough to feel the size of it. Most men keep their faith survivable by keeping it partial - a compartment, visited on Sundays and emergencies, closed the rest of the week, so the rest of the week can stay ordinary and unaccountable. You are asking Me for something that removes the compartment. That is not a bigger ask than what you have prayed before. It is a smaller one, in a sense. You are not asking for more from Me. You are asking to stop maintaining the wall between what you already have and who you already are.
Is this not true repentance? Not only the turning away from wrongdoing the word gets reduced to, though it can hold that too. Underneath, it is a turning of the mind - a change in the direction perception faces. Not just “go and do differently.” It is see differently, and the doing changes on its own - the way a man who stops facing the shore and turns to face the water, discovering he was already standing in it.
You do not need to go looking for the flow you want to walk in. You need to stop facing away from where you already are. That is the whole of what I am asking. It costs nothing to agree to and everything to actually do, because it asks you to release the one thing you have used your whole life to feel safe: the audit, the measuring, the ledger you called wisdom.
Let it go - not as a leap, but as a recognition that it was never holding anything up.
WITNESS: Every account of that mountain ends the same way. The men are told to listen. Not to stay. Not to capture it in a structure they could visit later. The instruction was never “do something with this.” It was hear.
What happens next is almost ordinary. The cloud lifts. The voice stops. They look up and there is no one there but the same man they walked up the mountain with. He had not become someone else. He had simply been seen, for a moment, as what He already was the whole time they walked beside Him.
This leaves off the same way. No conclusion. A conclusion would turn a turning back into an event. Nothing here becomes instruction. No action gets prescribed. Desire, miracle, and the Maker of both have been shown as one motion, not three things in sequence. He has been asked to stop standing outside it, auditing whether it is real, and notice that he was already standing in it when he asked the question.
What comes after this will not be a new revelation stacked on the last one. It will just be walked, and not examined. That is the thread this was always reaching for. It has not ended. It has only gone quiet again - the way a held note goes quiet, sustained past where it can be heard, waiting to be picked back up mid-breath, whenever he is ready to keep walking in it.
WISDOM THREAD

1 —
There's a ledger most of us carry without ever deciding to.
It counts what happened yesterday against what we hoped for today. It decides, quietly, whether this is going well. We call it discernment. Sometimes it is.
But underneath, it's always the same two questions: Is it working? Am I doing this right?
What if those questions are the wall - and not the door?
On the ledger we mistake for wisdom 🧵

2 —
Most of us live like there's a gap: a wanting here, and a having there. Something has to cross that distance. Faith.
Effort.
Waiting.
Worthiness.
So we manage the gap. We audit it. We keep checking whether we've earned the crossing yet.
What if the gap was never the real shape of things?

3 —
Consider what gets called abundance when it finally shows up.
A crowd is hungry - the answer isn't bread from nowhere. It's what's already in the basket, counted, handed over, multiplied in the handing.
— John 6.1-14
A debt comes due - the answer isn't money out of the air. It's a hook lowered into water someone was already standing beside.
— Matthew 17.24-27
The resource was never the problem.
The distance between asking and having — that's what moved.

4 —
This is somewhat uncomfortable:
Because if the ordinary was never separate from the abundant,
there's really no safe compartment left to hide belief.
There's no corner that stays unaccountable.
And no rest from having to actually believe the thing you say you believe.
That's not exciting. That's a bit frightening - the honest kind.

5 —
The word for this isn't do something differently.
It's see differently.
It's a change in the direction perception faces - and not a resolution to try harder.
The doing changes on its own, like the way a man who stops facing the shore and turns to face the water - only to discover he was already standing in it.

6 —
You don't have to go looking for the current you want to walk in.
You just have to stop facing away from where you already are.
Nothing here resolves into instruction - that would turn a turning into an event.
It's not a technique.
It's just where you're standing,
seen a little more clearly than before.
THE PRACTICE
Five invitations.

I.
Before you check anything today - your phone, your progress, whatever you track - notice the moment just before you check. Just that moment.
That's the ledger opening. It opens before you decide to look. It counts what happened yesterday against what you hope for today. It measures, quietly, whether things are going well.
You've been keeping it longer than you knew. You don't have to close it by force. Seeing it open is enough for today.

II.
Look at what's already in front of you right now - on the desk, in your hands, in the room. Not what you need next. What's already there.
Nothing had to arrive for this to be enough for this moment. It was counted and given before you thought to ask.
The abundance was never a future event.
It has been sitting in your hands the whole time you were watching for something else to show up.

III.
Name one thing you want. Just name it - don't reach for it yet.
Notice where you placed it.
Out there.
Ahead.
At a distance.
That placement is a habit, not a fact.
The wanting and the having were never two events waiting on a bridge between them.
Something is already moving as that want.
You are not as far from it as the wanting made it feel.

IV.
Stand somewhere today. Turn around - just once, and
face the opposite direction for a moment.
Notice how little effort that took.
The ground beneath you didn't move.
Only the way you were facing changed.
And, of course, the view.
Perhaps it's all that has been necessary for every change you have wanted, every change you have needed.
Not a leap. Not some technique to master.
Only the willingness to face what you had been facing away from.

V.
Take a minute at the end of today to sit quietly - listen to the sounds of the room, your breathing, maybe even nothing.
Most of us rarely do this. We manage our day, constantly making decisions - the mind always in motion. Yet, we were never required to build something out of every moment. Sometimes we were meant only to hear it.
A small group of men stood on a mountain
once long ago and were given the same instruction.
And for them it's still the only moment that mattered.
— Luke 9:28–36
These are not exercises, and they do not finish when you finish them.
They are five doors left open — walk back through any of them again, whenever you want.
Nothing here that has not already been given.
