And now what I have thought, what I have risen to do, has been accomplished

I sense in this moment that I have come to a place of rest within You. It used to be I would wait for You do something about the things I felt needed Your attention, legitimate things or otherwise I couldn’t/t tell, but hoping You would see the need the same as I. Now I sense a shift in my thinking, my stance regarding circumstances, dire as they are – when men seek war it is always the innocent that suffer – and I would have You relieve them.

But now I see Your patience in revealing Your sons and daughters; for it is them that the Kingdom will arise and take what has been overcome. It seems to me now that even the arising is not so much an action of doing as, once again, an expression of being. You have risen and the enemy has seen it and has seen judgment decreed.

For me, it’s enough to know Your presence, Your words, Your stance in my life. I have seen Peace rise within my heart among many thoughts of despair over man’s actions to kill other men; I can’t say it any other way. It’s heart numbing to watch this evil develop. Yet Your peace betrays no panic, only a settling in purpose. My heart is calmed within You.

And I watch what is to happen.

I know your ache of soul at what is happening, even as My heart aches for man too. This is the shape of war: that man’s thoughts are justifiable in his eyes, that anything done to bring about what he sees is what he should do. Man sees evil not from the one creating it but from the one that displays it, and his actions are against them, as if they are the evil. It is judgment, and for man is incorrect, for the end of judgment is death. My judgment is true, for I have defeated that which would overcome man, and have removed the enemy. He is no longer for those that are Mine.

And now what I have thought, what I have risen to do, has been accomplished. You are now seeing the results – this is the destruction of the enemy, and you are seeing his downfall. It is as with all things being destroyed, the final agony of the one destroyed.

It is indeed a burden for you, for you have not been here before. You see death and destruction all around and wonder how I allow it to go unpunished – you now understand I do not. For your wisdom has been revealed in My ways, that nothing that comes against the Kingdom remains standing.

I have always come for those I love and will see them as My possession. You are Mine and My Peace protects you in all circumstances, even those that despair the heart: it is only because you now see as I see.

But be within Peace fully; know that I am not without resource, without courage. I see as no other, not even evil, and I have seen his destruction. Only continue to seek My presence; be with Me hidden in Peace, and Freedom, and Goodness. For they shall rise in ways unseen by any and release all men into what they will be in Me, all they were created for – of that the enemy has no means to overcome.

Rest, as you are within Me.

You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. – Isaiah 26.3

“Most men’s lives are blown about by winds of circumstance, directed by gusts of passion, shaped by accidents, and are fragmentary and jerky, like some ship at sea with nobody at the helm, heading here and there, as the force of the wind or the flow of the current may carry them. If my life is to be steadied, there must not only be a strong hand at the tiller, but some outward object which shall be for me the point of aim and the point of rest. No man can steady his life except by clinging to a holdfast without himself.

Some of us look for that stay in the fluctuation and fleeting of creatures; and some of us are wiser and saner and look for it in the steadfastness of the unchanging God. The men who do the former are the sport of circumstances, and the slaves of their own natures, and there is no consistency in noble aim and effort throughout their lives, corresponding to their circumstances, relations, and nature. Only they who stay themselves upon God and get down through all the superficial shifting strata of drift and gravel, to the base-rock, are steadfast and solid.” – MacLaren
