A true walk of the believer comes not from his own strength

Day 163

I have stopped all that I might listen, that I might see this light rising from the place of rising. I hear the prophecy and seek its appearing in my life even in this moment. I know it is not a single event, but a continuous outflowing of your Spirit upon man, and upon me. I want to be a witness that what I see becomes a manifestation of who I am, and I want to see and know what that is, that I may walk in what has been revealed. I suppose my great desire for now is to be a part of this reveal and want to be doing all I can to be in that place. I’m not at all sure what that is – I think I can only walk the path of your Spirit, and not in my own power or might.

You have rightly discovered that a true walk of the believer comes not from his own internal strength, as if the kingdom can be obtained by man’s efforts, nor by might, as if by his own resources can it be manipulated to his will.

The kingdom is given to you; but most do not know how to receive something they do not understand. It can therefore only be received by my Spirit. It is He that guides you into all understanding, it is in His strength only that you can receive, and in His resources given to you that allows you to stand within this revelation. It is not taken by strength but received by the power of love within the heart.

You are wise to resist the doing; rather, to rest that you might receive. Your efforts in this will allow you to receive all. Therefore, seek after Me, as I have mentioned many times, and all you truly desire from the heart shall be given. There is no other way.

‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4:6; NASB). The two Hebrew words translated as “might” and “power” could easily be thought of as synonyms in the English. Yet, here they are treated as two separate words, as if to say each has a significance of its own.

The first word “might” comes from the Hebrew word chayil and the second, “power” comes from koach. Chayil appears to often be translated as army, or wealth, or capable, or valiant, among other things. Yet, they all have one element in common: most of the examples are all something that can be determined from observation. I can see the army; most can tell if someone is acting valiantly; it is easy to flaunt wealth. In one form or another, chayil, appears to deal with external forms or display of power.

The second word, koach, could easily be construed as regarding internal strength, that is, strength coming from the inside. When God is speaking to Cain, He says, “When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you” (Genesis 4:12). Speaking to Gideon, He says, “Go in this your strength and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?” (Judges 6:14). Although this may not be the whole meaning, in contrast to chayil, it seems it can be construed to have this understanding of internal power.
