Your task, simple as it is, is to search for the Light that gives life, and being, and purpose

Day 169

I am at once taken by the idea that man has a difficult time receiving the great love of God without also feeling a great sense of guilt has been lifted – and while true, never seems to be far away from being rested upon his shoulders again at the slightest provocation of his heart. Guilt is lifted and then returns. It’s the Flagellants of the 14th century coming once again, this time within the heart, that it might again be worthy of Your forgiveness and love. Always the cycle repeats.

Yet, after all these months of conversation with You I do not believe that there can be any truth to this at all; it appears to ‘make sense’ and ‘feels right’ – after all, how can I continue to sin without remorse, and have remorse without guilt? Is there constant repentance, constant forgiveness? How can one live with an understanding that freedom has come, that release into Your goodness is a flow into a Life of love and fellowship, but can disappear within a moment of error? There must be a place to remain within Your presence where the striving ceases, where the guilt of inadequate performance is lifted forever, where I am always with You now, without any judgment on my part of how that needs to appear.

And therein have been your thoughts the last few days: you assess your life in Me as a Tower of Babel, brick upon brick, building a life towards Me that would meet with your approval, as worthy to receive My presence. And when failure occurs within that construction, no matter how wonderful its appearance might strike awe in others, building continues, until you feel you have accomplished that which would keep you in My presence forever. And that is your striving – that you must be doing something to have My attention, to pronounce you worthy of all you have attained. You are correct – that is not love at all.

You now know you can never earn My love, let alone maintain it. You cannot be what I have made you to be by believing you can reach that place within your own strength. You cannot receive My attention by making yourself more noticeable, lifting yourself above others, or doing beyond what I have already put within your heart.

Your task, simple as it is, is to search for the Light that gives life, and being, and purpose. All else to do is Mine. I tend, nurture, and release all I have created, that it may express all I would love for it. You are an expression of Me in all your being – freely given, without judgment, without penalty of performance.

There is no reason for judgment – only that you are looking at others in comparison for My approval. You bend in their direction and therefore move from the Light that is your strength and life. Still, there is no guilt, no loss, with but a simple return to seeing Me again. There is no judgment from Me: only the greatest joy that we are together again. As it should be.

As far as sin is concerned: your understanding at this point is rudimentary, yet you sense that what you have known about it might be incorrect, and that is growth in understanding. Is man capable of judging sin, as if he could assess that which has dominion over him, a power he cannot overcome? Yet it is in My sacrifice that the power of sin has been broken, that it can no longer possess you, that it has been removed.

Yet somehow you still feel its presence, as if in its disappearance it has left a residue within, a marker to which you return to time and again. It is only something you hold onto, as if in its memory you may have some meaning to the life you once lived in its presence. It is in the holding that is the error. There is no holding of anything – there is only being within that which loves you. There is your freedom, and belonging, and fullness, and joy. There is the edge of awareness, the beginning of the exploration of truth.
