Day 223
Over the last few days as I have witnessed the decline in the health of my friends with cancer, and the fallout of this upon many other friends and family, I have come to the conclusion that this decline, this possible death by sickness, is not of my mind and heart, if it ever was – but certainly definitive now. Though seemingly obvious to most it became clear to me only recently: God would take man to be with Him when man has completed his purpose here. The releasing of man into God’s presence should not be predicated on the timing of disease, sickness, accident, or any other means of death; nothing, but when God chooses. There are the many examples of Enoch, Moses, Elijah, Lazarus, Paul, the Lord, and likely innumerable others. All completed their tasks and were no more.
Was it the desire of God that the thief on the cross come into the Kingdom in this manner? Should this be the way of victory for anyone? Do the means justify the end, or should the transition be as Jesus – when the life has finished its purpose and victory is assured? I am of this mind regardless, and as with the resurrection of Lazarus, will move against this concession to death in this manner, to even beyond death itself. This, I believe, is a life completed into oneness with Him.

The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?
– John 11.25-26
